Discovering Paris and its suburbia

Here comes the spring !

Last week-end, the sun was bright and  arroused  in us the desire to to look for a spot in the sun. We chose to walk in the Schlumberger park, located upper town, on the ridges of Cormeilles en Paris.

I suggest you to visit this very nice park where you can admire a splendid view of Paris. There is also a playground for children. Statues adorn the walkways and it is easy to find a quiet corner under the sun.

This park of eight hectares (19 acres) belonged to Guy Patin, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. The Schlumberger family bought the estate and sold most of its gardens in 1977 to the Department of Val d’Oise.

Despite the storm damages in December 1999 (the park has lost more than 400 trees), there is still 27 species of trees, some are over a hundred years: the beech, holly and yew alongside maples, redwoods, but also apple, pear or cherry trees.

It was reopened to the public at the end of summer 2002.
